Iz had toz goz

I stayed as long as I could.

Knowing your heart would shatter when I left.

You gave me your very best even to the end.

There wasn’t anything you could do but love me.

My short life I lived a lot.

I meet people both old and young and made them smile.

I helped you show the world that my kind isn’t as bad as the media portrays us.

I got to travel to so many states for different events.

My first was Bark World and my last HollyWoof

Know that I am near with only a thought.

The pain will ease in time but your love will always be strong.

While you might not want to dance now don’t forget how to Weasel War Dance in the sun.

Remember the good we did together and know that your love carried me on my next adventure.

pet blog hop: Therapy Visit for Father’s Day

Friday Manny and I went on a therapy visit to Orchard Manor for Father’s day. Before we went there we went for our walk in the park. We still get surprised looks as people see him walking on his leash. For this visit I had made Manny a shirt to go with his paw print tie.

To get him used to walking in the shirt I had put it on him at the park. Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures of that as my camera was MIA thanks to Boyd, the cat, but once Manny got the hang of walking around with it on he was trying to get people to notice him even more than normal.

It worked a bunch of kids out walking with their “Nina” spotted him and wanted to see him up close. He had his picture taken with one of the little girls.

Then it was time to go for our visit. This time we were escorted around by Janet who was a bit leery of Manny at first but he put on his charms and she soon was asking a lot of questions about him and ferrets in general.

He was a big hit with Marie again who loved his little shirt and tie. Manny soaked up the attention and decided that he didn’t want carried around the whole place this time and demanded that he be let down to walk around.

He loved going to personal care this time as it was before dinner time and he got to visit with the each of the residents he didn’t get to meet last time. He loved walking into the rooms and checking them out.

Some residents were happy to see him from a far but many wanted to see him up close. One lady tired to give Manny a doggie biscuit but he politely declined by placing it back in the tin it came out of.

We both are getting more confident with each visit and by creating his shirt I have found a renew interest in sewing and I am learning how to create my own patterns for ferret clothing.

Step 2

After many misadventures with the mail Manny and I are proud to say we are on the next step to becoming part of the therapy pet world. Now I have to making our first appointment to one of our local convalescent hospitals to make a visit.

Step 1 Complete.

Many of you have heard of therapy dogs. These are pets that go to nursing homes and senior centers to visit the elderly. Cats have been added to the list and now ferrets are being allowed to join this great program.

I wasn’t sure where to begin until I found Paws for Friendship it had all the information I needed. I emailed Jan the founder about starting a chapter of Paws for Friendship in Western Pa. I’ll let you know how that is coming along.

Step 1: Get Manny cleared by vet.

We just got back from the vet and Manny has a clear bill of health and been vaccinated against Rabies and Distemper. He was such a good boy, even if he did slip his collar and grin at the vet.

Manny is now a hefty 3lb boy and Dr. Doverspike was happy to help certify Manny, his first therapy ferret certification.

Manny now has a new shiny tag that says he has had his shots. I am glad I check my paperwork before driving out of the vet’s parking lot. It had the wrong weight on it and had Manny listed as a canine. Don’t think I could pass this little monkey off as a doggy. HPIM1269What do you think?

Step 2: Get Approved

Need to send in the paper work and membership dues.

The boys and I are getting Gibbs’ presents and will be shipping them to him soon.

Have a Chittering good day,

Jo
