Featured Ferret: Sunny-D

Hi down der. No it isn’t the window talking. It’s me; Sunny-D.

I am checking out all the nooks and cranies here at the Ferret Inn Rescue and Shelter in Columbia, MD while I wait for the perfect pet hooman to come and be adopted by me.

I had a hooman once but they didn’t know much about me and left me in my cage all the time and never checked on my collar. I grew and it didn’t. When I first came here they found that my collar was trying to grow into my neck but they fixed that really quickly.

I am a single male ferret and I am about two and a half. I love a good photo op

I like to talk a lot while I am cruising around the shelter looking for new things to climb and other ferrets to play with.

So if you are looking to have a fuzzy with a Sunny disposition then I’m da guy for you.

Featured Ferret: Gizmo

Hi Iz Gizmo and Iz not a gremlin so youz can get mez wet and feed me after midnight if youz want. Iz came into The Ferret Awareness Club of the Tri-Cities shelter in Bristol, TN wif my friendz

Iz looking for a great forever home and would love it if one if not all my friendz could come wif mez. Iz haz my own cage set up so will feel right at home.

Dez hoomanz say I need to have some vaccinationz cause der don’t seem to be any record of mez having any.

Note: Gizmo is a blaze and while it is not stated on pet finder’s he may have some hearing issues. This does not make him unadoptable it just means that he will need some training with hand signs so he will know what you want him to do. Gizmo may be getting cues from his friends.

Featured Ferret: Humphrey

Of all of the joints Iz could be stuck in Iz here at the Hazleton Animal Shelter in Hazleton, PA. Iz ended up here after an uncaring hooman left mez behind in an apartment. Mez name iz Humphrey.

Iz like being held and Iz full of love to give. Iz know how to use a litter box and Iz a little fussy bout my food needing to be softened but other than that Iz an all around great guy.

So how about it sweethooman got room fer a fuzzy little gentleman that can make youz laugh and give youz all da kisses youz could want?

Note: Humphrey may have a hearing problem because of the marking called a blaze on his head. This does not mean that there is anything wrong with him just that he needs some training that you can design for him and you.

Just James

Hi all Iz James from Boalsburg, PA and at the moment Iz living with foster parentz. My sister Audrey went OTRB recently but Iz dealing with that and have some really great ferret friends that don’t let me get too sad about it.

Wez were found behind a local vet office where a hooman abandoned uz. Luckily wez were found and the vet took good care of uz and wez was good and patient wif the vet while wez waz examined. So while Audrey went OTRB Iz looking for a forever home down here until itz time to meet Audrey again.

Iz like playing wif other ferretz and mez foster parentz have a large doggie dat I like tooz. Iz hope youz will visit Ferret Rescue 

and fill out the adoption application for mez.

Pet Finder's Less Adoptable Pet Week: Bennie and the Jet

Hi all I am Jet and my buddy is Ben and he doesn’t talk much.

Sorry there aren’t any cute photos of us just of what our feet looked like when we first came to Ferrets Unlimited Rescue better known as FURS.

Our first hooman abandoned us in an apartment in Windham,OH with an iguana.

We were stuck in our cage for such a long time that we were left standing in feces.

The person who first rescued us though that it was just caked on our feet so bad then when she tried peeling some off of Ben’s feet it left them bleeding.

Ben: It hurt a lot and my feet were really swollen.

Jet: Our first rescuer realized that our care was going to be more than they could handle so they brought us here to these nice people. After being examined it was determined that it wasn’t caked on poop it was these nasty little parasites called Scabies.

Well we were immediately put on antibiotics, inflammatory meds, and pain meds, and daily soaks in a antibacterial soap.

Well Ben got the pain meds because his feet were so bad. Because of this ordeal we weren’t up for adoption until now.

We are recovered from the scabies and we’re told that ferrets don’t get them often so we shouldn’t get them again ever.

I am a bit more out going then Ben here. He is a huge fraidy cat about being out of his cage and likes to find places to hide so he can let his bottle brush tail relax.

So we need a hooman that is understanding of Ben’s fears and help him work through them.

I am a fat boy who is all ferret.

So are you the right hooman for us or know someone gentle, soft spoken, and able to deal with high energy and a trembling ball of fur? Won’t you come check out the adoption process at Ferrets Unlimited and see if we can’t come home with you.

Note: Scabies is a parasite that burrows under the skin causing extreme itching and is more common in humans. With the right treatment the reoccurrence is almost never depending on living conditions.

Disclosure: I did pick these two because of the injustice done to them while in the care of an unkind human and the fact that they have survived what had to be a very painful ordeal means they have a lot to give to the right human.
