Featured Ferret: Raffles

Hi all my name is Raffles and I am living at the Nebraska Humane Society in Omaha, NE

I am a little sable boy and I would love to find my very own forever home with my own hooman to train. We could learn about each other.

Do you know of someone needing daily ferret kisses and a dose of joy?

Raf

Disclaimer: I get no compensation for doing featured ferrets from the pet finder site. All profiles are from my own mind using what information that is with the selected ferret.

Please pass on to those you would think would like to help find this little guy his forever home.

Featured Ferret: Savannah

Hello Darlings,

I’m called Savannah and I am looking for the perfect plantation to call home.

Must have caring hoomans that understand that us ferrets have a slight smell no matter what. My last applicants didn’t like my perfume.

Second said hoomans must have time for little old me. I love to cuddle and snuggle but I also like to cut a rug or two.

If you have the right ferret mentality and think you need to have a womanly touch added to your home I’m the gal for you.

You can call Ms Lori here at the shelter in Texarkana, Texas at 903-838-3040 to set up a chaperoned introduction date. Hope to meet you soon.

Ms. Savannah

Disclosure: I receive no compensation for promoting any of the ferrets from the Pet Finder site here on Enlightened Ferret. I chose from the many needing new homes and give them a voice using the information that is available.

Photos of the ferrets come from the site as well and are not mine.

Featured Ferret: Angel

I could be your guiding light. My name is Angel and I am a four year old little chocolate girl.

I am keeping myself amused with the hoomans here at the Pennsylvania Ferret Rescue Centre C in Boalsburg, PA.

I get along with other ferrets and would love to find a forever home with another laid back ferret to hang with. The hoomans here were told I played rough and nipped hard but I have done neither of those things for I am an Angel.

Won’t you be my saving grace?

Angel

Disclosure: I create personas for the ferrets I feature from the Pet Finder site and receive no compensation for doing so other than the hope that one of them will find their forever home.

For those that seek medical advice I am not in the animal medical profession. All information contain on my blog is from research and interviews from those that are knowledgeable in the subjects. If you are having a problem with your ferret please see your vet.

Featured Ferret: Big Bad Brodie

Hey you there! Yes I am talking to you. I want you to be my pet hooman. I am an educated ferret as I was found on the State College campus checking out the students and staff there.

I am not real keen on other ferrets but if you think you can integrate me into your business you are welcome to try but you have to convince these fine folks here at Pennsylvania Ferret Rescue Association of Centre C in Boalsburg, PA a call.

I love to play with the pet hoomans here but they only have a little time for each of us. I suppose I’d get more hooman time if I liked playing with them other ferrets.

I hope you will come take me home or know someone that will.

Brodie Bear.

Disclosure: All the ferrets I select from Pet Finder are by my choice only. I receive no compensation for promoting the adoption of these long furry kids. If I could I’d adopt everyone of them just so they would have a forever home.

For those that keep asking me medical or other advice please know I am not a vet and have no medical experience beyond what I have learned from my own ferrets. For the well being of your ferret or other animal please contact your vet for reliable information.

Featured Ferret: Lucky

He just felt right to feature today.

Top of da day,

Names Lucky. Fits me right fine as I was left alone in my apartment when my hooman ran away. Thankfully other hoomans found me and brought me here to the Ferret Nook here in Cambridge, WI.

While these fine folks keep me entertained and I can dance with some other ferrets I would rather use my charms on a new pet hooman.

I’d give them my pot of treasure at the end of the rainbow. You did know that is where we kept all our cool stuff right?

Any hooman out there wishing for a charming lad like me?

I am 2 years old and I have the cutest little brown stripe on my nose and I am wishing for the best forever home.

Featured Ferret: Fig

Hi world,

My other hoomans named me Fig but they had to move and the place they are living now don’t allow any critters. Can you believe that? No pets what so ever. My poor hoomans are going to be so lonely without me.

Right now I am exploring the Kitsap Humane Society here in Silverdale, WA. I was showing this hooman I could do some of the paperwork. That was until they got out the clicky box to snap this picture of me.

I am a six month old boy who has experience with cats. I get overly excited and tend to be nippy. With the right hooman I will out grow that bad habit. But it is so hard to control myself when I want to play so much.

I am hoping to find new hoomans that have the energy to keep up with me and let me explore new things. Do you know the perfect hooman for me?

Disclosure: I get no compensation for featuring ferrets from the Pet Finder site or from the shelters that they are residing at. The bios for each ferret are my own created from the information available and are works of fiction unless otherwise noted.

Featured Ferret: Poe

               A Dream

A wilder’d being from my birth

    My spirit spurn’d control

But now, abroad on the wide earth,

Where wand’ rest thou my soul?

In visions of the dark night

I have dreamed of joy departed --

But a waking dream of life and light

    Hath left me broken-hearted.

And what is not a dream by day

To him whose eyes are cast

On things around him a ray

    Turned back upon the past?

The holy dream – that holy dream

While all the world were chiding,

Hath cheered me as a lovely beam

    A lonely spirit guiding.

What though that light, thro’ misty night,

    So dimly shone afar --

What could there be more purely bright

    In Truth’s day-star? (1)

Hi, I am Poe. As in Edgar Allan Poe.  I am resting up at the Ferret Waystation here in Austin Texas before wandering in to the right hooman’s heart and home.

I am a wee lad looking for a happy place to bounce, scurry, and dance at along with maybe nicking an item or two for my own special hidey hole.

Any hooman out there that has an affinity for Poe? Or perhaps is just a writer looking for a muse? I can be that too. Richard Bach, he’s a writer you know, has ferrets that are his muses so I know I can be one too.

Or I can just be me and take away the gloom of the day by making you laugh and getting you to chase me. We can have lots of fun together.

Sides they won’t let me out of the Ferret Waystation unless I am with a hooman something about me being to little to be on my own.

My markings make me a Blaze ferret and there could be a 75% chance that I might be deaf

Hope my hooman is reading this right now.

Featured Ferrets for Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day. 2ofhearts

My Valentine

By Martina McBride

If there were no words
No way to speak
I would still hear you

If there were no tears
No way to feel inside
I'd still feel for you

And even if the sun refuse to shine
Even if romance ran out of rhyme
You would still have my heart
Until the end of time
You're all i need
My love, my valentine

All of my life
I have been waiting for
All you give to me
You've opened my eyes
And showed me how to love unselfishly

I've dreamed of this a thousand times before
In my dreams i couldn’t love you more
I will  give you my heart
Until the end of time
You're all I need
My love, my valentine

Will and Widget are from the Williams Animal Control in Knoxville, TN. Will is about 4 years old and Widget is about 6. Their combined adoption fee is $120.

Valentine is from Animal Rescue League of Boston, MA

Disclosure: I do not receive any compensation for promoting these cuties from Pet Finder . I also thought this song fit the day and found a site that had the lyrics. My Valentine is by Martina McBride.

Featured Ferret: Sunny-D

Hi down der. No it isn’t the window talking. It’s me; Sunny-D.

I am checking out all the nooks and cranies here at the Ferret Inn Rescue and Shelter in Columbia, MD while I wait for the perfect pet hooman to come and be adopted by me.

I had a hooman once but they didn’t know much about me and left me in my cage all the time and never checked on my collar. I grew and it didn’t. When I first came here they found that my collar was trying to grow into my neck but they fixed that really quickly.

I am a single male ferret and I am about two and a half. I love a good photo op

I like to talk a lot while I am cruising around the shelter looking for new things to climb and other ferrets to play with.

So if you are looking to have a fuzzy with a Sunny disposition then I’m da guy for you.

Year in Review and a Look Forward

I sit here on this last day of 2011 to work on this post I realize that it was not a great year for my personal it was and exceptional one for Manny and Marcuz.

Manny became the first therapy ferret in our area and has been a hit at the local care home.

Marcuz and Manny showed a lot of people that ferrets are indeed trainable and are willing to walk on a leash to be able to have some great adventures.

Photobucket We placed 1st in our category in our first pet parade. While showing that ferrets can stylish and that some are willing to wear clothing. If only for a little while.

Photobucket We went to Blog Paws and had a ferret invasion withPhotobucket Snot Face Critter and his hooman.

Manny and Marcuz were also part of a news story that dealt with animals dressing up for Halloween and had their pictures splashed across the net from the photo shoot they were part of. PhotobucketPhotobucket

Manny and Marcuz both turned a year old this year and helped to raise nearly a thousand dollars for Hearts of Ohio Ferret Rescue and Association.

We were Santa to Murray of Fox Valley Ferret Rescue.

This year also saw a new addition on Enlightened Ferret. Featured ferrets from the Pet finder site. We can only hope that those featured on the blog found their new forever homes.

Now we are looking to the New Year and what it might hold for us.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Manny will turn 2 on the third of January and there may be a birthday pawty for him on twitter with a few prizes.

We would love to see our Etsy store take off and be able to feed the boys at the very minimum.

Blog Paws is a given but we are hoping to do a lot more traveling this coming year than we did this last one. *paws crossed*

We will again celebrate Senior Ferrets and our blog’s anniversary in June with an Outlaw pawty.

We will try to keep our first place win for a second time in July at the pet parade

August may see us attending the Buckeye Bash

October we will make an appearance at our local feed store’s Halloween celebration and hopefully make it to Bark World.

We would like to be Santa to more than one ferret this year along with helping Hearts of Ohio Ferret Rescue and perhaps one other ferret shelter.

We have received a lot of praise for helping others learn about ferrets this last year from those that got to meet Manny and Marcuz in the fur while at Blog Paws and on Twitter.

Many make resolutions now about what they will/won’t do this coming year.

I normally don’t as they often get forgotten about but this year my one resolution is to do better with posting on Enlightened Ferret even when things get out of hand or try to overload me with work. My two worst months are November and December.

What would you like to see Enlightened Ferret talk about this coming year?

What do you want to know or have discussed?

Dear Sponsors/Brands even if you don’t think they are ferret related we would still like a chance to do a review of products or even giveaways. Our main focus is Ferrets but as long as it is somehow related to pets Enlightened is willing to check it out.

Leave a comment, suggestion, or a valid question in the field below and you never know what might show up on Enlightened Ferret.

Disclosure: I am a ferret owner all information on this blog is researched and verified to the best of my knowledge. Sometimes the information may be out of date or from another country. At this time I do not get paid by any of the products/services I review except in the product or service and are always carry a disclosure of what I have/not received.  All photos unless otherwise noted are mine. If you do borrow one please link back to Enlightened Ferret and give credit to AmyJo Casner for the picture.

Have a Chittering Good Last Day of 2011,

Featured Ferrets: Prince and Diamond

Hiya I am Diamond   and I am Prince wez are two young boyz looking for a new forever home with lotz of toys, a blanket or two, and a hooman which to shower with our love in or around York, PA.

Our first hooman had to move and wez couldn’t go along so wez were brought here to the YC SPCA they are nice hoomanz butz they are busy.

Wez would prefer to find the same forever home as wez have been together for most of our young livez and are considered bonded. Which meanz wez might get depressed if wez are separated.

Do youz need a couple of richly named buddiez to love youz this holiday season? Or do youz know someone who needz some cheering up? Please come check uz out at the YC SPCA.

Disclaimer: I receive no financial incentive to promote these guys or any other featured ferret. I believe that all animals belong in a forever home and not be homeless.

I pick from the many ferrets on the Pet Finder site based on picture, information given, and age. While I am a supporter of senior pet adoptions, I know that not all people are willing or able to deal with the health issues a senior pet may have.

Please before you adopt know what you are getting into. These little ones have already lost a home though no fault of their own they shouldn’t have to lose another home because of misunderstanding of the breed.

Have a Chittering Good Day,

Jo

Featured Ferret: Forrest

Life iz like a box of soxz you never can take just one. That iz mez philosophy and Iz try to live by it everyday.

Mez name iz Forrest and mez first hooman couldn’t be trained to play wif mez all da time so wez parted wayz. Iz hanging out here at da Heartland Animal Rescue Team club house in Brainerd, MN.

Wez have lotz of fun here but these hoomanz have been trained to take care of otherz like mez so Iz can’t have dem all to mez self.

Iz brought mez house wif mez and it will go wif mez when Iz da right hooman comez here looking for itz new owner.

Iz give good cuddlez and can entertain mez pet hooman fer hourz if dey want. Know any stray hoomanz wif lotz of soxz needing an owner? Plz send em my way. Fankz.

Featured Ferret: Glacier

Hi allz I am Glacier and I am living in the Lewis Clark Animal Shelter in Lewiston, ID.

I came to the shelter as a stray and they think I am about a year old. They keep telling me I am a sweet boy cause I have never tried to bite anyone even when I got a baf.

I like cuddling and scratches on the head. But while they are really nice here at the shelter they really aren’t set up to deal with us woozels so I would love to find a great forever home.

So if you or know some one looking for a active little boy please come adopt me. Thanks.

Disclosure: I get no compensation for featuring ferrets from Pet Finder on my blog. Just my love of these critters and the hope each one gets their own forever home.

Have a Chittering Good Day,
